    Why Carman Creek is an Environmental Award Winning Facility

    Starting back in the early 90's when we began building the golf practice facility we made a conscious business decision to be environmentally friendly and practice sustainable turf management. Over the years we have experimented with numerous organic fertilizers, compost tees, worm castings, etc., and the major learning is;

    "The fewer chemicals you use, the less you need to use."

    In the golf business you are very close to the environment. The staff and customers at Carman Creek, have a special place in their heart for nature and the animals that live on the course; animals such as several familes of ducks, geese, deer, fox, ground hogs, and some of the largest frogs that you will find anywhere. They are all our friends at Carman Creek. In order for them to survive and prosper we have to protect their habitat and minimize our environmental footprint. Our future plans of the addition of more renewable energy, more energy efficiency, and focus on organic growing practices will not only help our little friends but it also saves us money.

    As we work hard at minimizing our environmental footprint there are many initiatives that we have implemented over the years. One major initiative is what we refer to as "100% Chemical FREE GOLF". This has been achieved over the years by focusing on minimizing the use of chemicals unless absolutely necessary to the point now, we do not use any chemicals and do not even have any onsite since 1999. By focusing in this direction we have achieved a balance of naturally healthy turf with a very important characteristic, the turf is NOT chemical dependent. This characteristic really came to light the last few summers where we've had our fair share of moisture from percipitation, and I do not mean from the river overflowing. Even with the moist conditions unfortunately creating an idea situation for fungas and bacteria growth, Carman Creek's greens were healthy and in excellent condition with no pesticide applications at all. So anyone who plays Carman Creek does not have to worry about pesticides rubbing off on their hands from a ball or tee, because there is no pesticides or chemicals of any kind used at Carman Creek.

    There are many more environmentally friendly iniaitives we have undertaken over the years, such as, Pond Buffer zones, use of native grasses, energy efficient irrigation pumping, Fredericton's first commercial wind turbine, and many more.

    2008 was an incredible year for Carman Creek. We won three Environmental awards.

    • Gold Medal in Fredericton's "Green Matters" Environmental Business Certification Program.
    • Mayor's June Environmental Award.

    Carman Creek is the premiere lighted golf practice facility in Fredericton. Our driving range offers regulation golf balls, mats and real grass tees that are always open for your comfort and convenience. We make it easy to improve your game and enjoy it, too.     For entertainment the entire family will enjoy, look no further than Carman Creek Golf Course. Our Mini Golf course, quality sand volley ball courts and washer toss facilities are always a hit in the Summer. Young and old, everyone likes to tame the twisting, turning, and whimsical holes of our Mini Golf Course. Those looking to be a bit more active will find our sand volley courts to be some of the best in Fredericton. Carman Creek offers a truly fun and family friendly place to just let loose./p>

    If it is raining when you leave the clubhouse to play golf we consider you a "Trooper" and we give you a DOOLY'S RAIN CHECK which is one FREE 9 Hole round of golf plus one FREE hour of pool at Dooly's.     Traveling West (from Moncton) As you approach the Saint John River Bridge, take exit 333, which is marked "Sheffield". You will be traveling on Route 105, which brings you to Fredericton. Just as you come into Fredericton you will see on your left hand side the Ramada Hotel and the Carman Creek Golf Course sign just before you approach the Princess Margaret Bridge. Turn into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River. After you cross the Saint John River Bridge, follow all signs to Fredericton. Take exit 294. As you approach Fredericton, take the exit that is marked "Route 8 Miramichi". Travel across the Princess Margaret Bridge going east. Keep going straight off the bridge and we are located on the right hand side about 400 yards after the Princess Margaret Bridge adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Turn into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    Traveling from Saint John     After you pass by Oromocto, take exit 294. As you approach Fredericton, take exit for Route 8, Miramichi. Travel across the Princess Margaret Bridge going east. Keep going straight off the bridge and we are located on the right hand side about 400 yards after the Princess Margaret Bridge adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Turn into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    Traveling East (from Woodstock or Edmundston) You will be traveling east on the new Trans Canada Highway. Take exit 280 to Fredericton on Route 8. Continue on this highway (Route 8), the signs will indicate this is the way to the Miramichi, and cross the Princess Margaret Bridge. Keep going straight off the bridge and we are located on the right hand side about 400 yards after the Princess Margaret Bridge adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Turn right into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    Traveling East (from Silverwood) Travel on this highway until you reach a set of lights at the Hanwell Road then turn right. Travel about 200 yards and turn left onto ramp to get onto Route 8 traveling east. The signs will indicate this is the way to the Miramichi. Travel east down the highway and across the Princess Margaret Bridge. Keep going straight off the bridge and we are located on the right hand side about 400 yards after the Princess Margaret Bridge adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Turn right into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    Traveling West (from Miramichi) Follow Route 8 to Nashwaak Village, near Fredericton, and turn right onto the Killarney Road, which becomes St. Mary's Street. Follow this road through 2 sets of lights, and turn left at the 3rd light (Route 105/Union Street). Travel through town until you reach the Princess Margaret Bridge and continue on Route 105 south (Jemseg) going under the bridge. About 400 yards after going under the bridge turn right into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    From Prospect Street     Go west on Prospect Street until you reach the lights at the intersection of the Hanwell Road and the sign shows turn left to Miramich Moncton. Turn left and travel about 200 yards and turn left again onto ramp to get onto Route 8 traveling east. The signs will indicate this is the way to the Miramichi. Travel east down the highway and across the Princess Margaret Bridge. Keep going straight off the bridge and we are located on the right hand side about 400 yards after the Princess Margaret Bridge adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Turn right into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.

    Traveling from Downtown Go to Fredericton North across the Westmorland Street Bridge. Just as you cross the bridge take the ramp off to Union Street. After turning onto Union Street travel through town until you reach the Princess Margaret Bridge and continue on Route 105 south (Jemseg) going under the bridge. About 400 yards after going under the bridge turn right into the Ramada Hotel, drive across in front of the Hotel and around back and you will see Carman Creek overlooking the beautiful Saint John River.
